The exciting news is that 26 children will have their educational needs met for the foreseeable future, thanks to YOU, the supporters of Boxes of Hope, Cumbria.  We have a full class of 25 happy little 6 year olds sponsored, and we are starting another class as new sponsors come forward.  Some of us have already had the privilege of meeting these delightful children, who are already through the kindergarten stage and who just love going to school each day.

A team from Cumbria is going to Tinca School in April, and in July another team is taking 40 children from Tinca village on their first holiday EVER.  Two Trustees from Boxes of Hope are visiting the school in September, and the shoebox distribution team will be there again in December.  All these trips are self funded.  Every penny of your sponsorship money goes to the children.

Imagine the pleasure of spending each day in a bright classroom, inspired by enthusiastic teachers, with a hot meal and a shower thrown in, when your childhood so far has been spent existing in squalor, in one dilapidated room with no privacy from the rest of the family, no running water or toilet, no regular food or clothing, no dental or medical check ups and no stimulation from toys or games. And this is EUROPE.  You can’t hope to change the world, but if you are willing to help a child to go to school, you can “give a child a chance”

Thank you everyone who has already sponsored a child – and others, please think about it.  You will receive a photo and details of your child, followed by regular individual reports of your child’s progress.

We will do our best to keep the website up to date with reports and photos as we get to know the children. If you look at the People to People website you will see that they are so busy putting all their resources into practical help that their website is a little bit out of date (at least 5 years actually!).  We are just pleased that we are able to fill in some of the gaps and answer your questions.
